You got to get there early. All the good stuff get swiped out real quick. I did get my ribs and my pork chops, so I'm happy but I wasn't able to try their mac & cheese or yams. I took pictures of the latest menu cuz the last one was like a year ago and things have changed but I would definitely try this place out again to try the seafood plate.

AMAZING! You know a place is good when you open the door and you’re immediately enveloped in the best kind of aromas coming from the kitchen. Even with the long line and some customers complaining about it, these ppl who work here are nothing but sweet kind and welcoming. This place is worth going to and coming back to.

True to description, it's a cafeteria in a church basement served by nice ladies. The portions are beyond generous for the price. I got a ribs meal for 15 bucks that's a good two BIG meals for me. Ribs were so good, meat just falling off the bone. Enjoyed the yams and the greens too. Didn't have a line when I went there at 11:30 on a weekday. Recommend for soul food on the area.

I have lived in the DMV area for the last almost 5 years and had not found a restaurant with some well seasoned soul food! I am from the south (Ga Peach) & I cook everything from scratch, so when my cousin (dc native) recommended this location simply because of pricing, service & SEASONED soul food. I HAD to try it out and when I tell you these ladies did not disappoint!!! The food was AMAZING very well seasoned. I decided on a turkey wing plate which came with 2 sides. The meat just literally fell off the bone !!!!! It’s a cafeteria so it’s plenty room to sit and enjoy your food. I would rate this experience a 100/10 definitely recommend & will be returning, just wish I had found this place sooner!!!

My son and I were looking for a good breakfast near the convention center that would be fast, cost effective, and good. Everyone here is so nice! From the servers to the customers, it was a wonderful experience. We got pancakes, eggs, grits, bacon, and sausage. All of the food was good and tasted like something grandma would make. We got a take out order, and the food was packed with great care. I would definitely recommend visiting this place!

Loved this place. Honestly was not expecting much before coming, but I love how homey this place is. We tried their chicken and fried white fish lunch box today. The chicken leg was so tender and juicy, and the fried white fish so flavorful. While the portion was extremely generous, I loved the flavor of everything, especially the mac and cheese. The banana pudding we ordered for dessert was okay, but I would definitely come back again for the fish and chicken. All the folks here were also so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend:)

Was my pleasure to be able to come here and try their absolutely delicious Southern cuisine. As a tourist, I've only read about Southern food, and was very happy to be able to try mashed potatoes, fried apples and cornbread. Everything was absolutely delicious. Wish I could come back to try more but I'm flying off already!

Great food, great service at a cheap price. I took the fried fish/whitling, beans and cabbage. Everything was delicious. They also give free cornbread on the side. Corn bread was soo good!! If you opt for the blue plate, you can save some money as the dinner platter is a lot of food to eat.
